Keeping Stockport's bridleways open for riders

Working together for safer routes and better access.

Our aims

We work to improve and protect equestrian access across Stockport. Your membership money helps towards all of this.

  • Protect bridleways

To encourage all riders to join SEABA to help safeguard the bridleways (BW's) restricted byways (RB's) in their own areas.

  • Record routes on the definitive map

To define existing BW's/RB's, identify those in need of maintenance & record on definitive map.

  • Create new routes

To persuade local authorities and landowners to create BW's/RB's where needed. Sometimes it is only necessary to create a few short stretches between existing BW's/RB's to build a network enabling riders to avoid dangerous roads.

  • Safer road verges

To encourage local authorities to increase/provide grass verges where riding on roads is unavoidable, as per Highways Act 1980.

BW = bridleway. RB = restricted byway.
